Shorty, How You Work That ‘Do?

Many of us haven’t revisited any of the convenient, easy-to-manage, super short hairstyles we probably sported when we were young.  Those short, often unruly and untamed styles were perfect for play-dates in the sun, pool-time, and when our parents tried to run a brush through it at the end of the day (God forbid).

Then the adolescent years rolled around, and for the most part society showed us that guys dig chicks with long hair.  Well, guys also dig chicks without opinions, so allow us to stray from their groundless-influence for a bit.  What will actually catch a man’s eye is a woman who sticks out of the crowd.  This Fall, trade in your long mane for a more manageable look, and you’ll be sure to turn heads.

From personal experience, I have seen that in almost every instance where my friends have reached for the scissors, they end up looking older, more sophisticated, and often more confident as a result! In one case, a friend of mine chopped her tresses and dyed her hair all in the name of a Posh Spice Halloween costume. Yes, my friends and I tend to  go to great lengths (or perhaps short lengths, that is) for our favorite season. Regardless, though, not a single person could deny what we would later dub her “posh-swag”.  With her new hairstyle, she completely transformed her entire look.

Remarkably, short hair doesn’t mean less options when it comes to various styles; it simply means you have the freedom to be a bit more creative. For starters check out these two styles:

1.  Try the pixie crop if you’re craving a seriously adjustable style.  This look can be softened with the right makeup and clothes or magnified with gels, hairspray and a little creativity.

2.  If you’re still a bit too hesitant to go super short, ease into the tiny-hair-transition with a longer fringed bob.  You can still keep some of your length, and you’ll even be able to sport that cute little pony tail that sticks almost straight out (one day I will successfully obtain this look).  The accompanying bangs will also help frame your face, especially for all you ladies with what Tyra refers to as the ‘five-fingered forehead’.  Don’t worry, for the record, mine is a ‘six fingered forehead’.  I’m beginning to think I should take my own advice.

Once you opt for a short cut, its important to go to a professional that knows what he or she is doing! If you’re looking for a haircutting salon in Pittsburgh, your short ‘do is an equally short distance away.  Located in downtown Pittsburgh, Verve360 Salon is the place to go for all your total wellness and beauty needs.
