When I mention dark hair with a dramaticly light highlight, two people should come to mind. Stacy London from TLC’s ‘What Not to Wear’ and 101 Dalmatians’ Cruella De Vil. Both instances are, perhaps, equally unfortunate if you ask me. However, if we take the inverse of that hair-fiasco-trend, we come up with something pretty and equally unique. Think very light brown hair,or better-bright blonde- with a streak or two of dark chestnut brown color. The dark color will radiate from the light backdrop and make a louder statement than regular highlights or lowlights.
This look works best with short hair that can be easily waxed and mouse’d into funky styles. This way, you can minipulate the dark accent into every which way. Take, for example, this trendy model:
She executes the style perfectly. Her short, blonde tresses keep the focus on the dark splash of color. Plus, the various directions of her styled hair mean that she can easily part the darker color in sections to add to the dynamic ‘do.
Not ready to go short?
Playboy-girlfriend, Holly, does the look justice too. Even if you’re afraid to take scissors to your mane, a dark streak can be swept up into a pony-tail to create an equally spunky look.
You could also keep the streak and ditch the blonde:
With skin tones that simply wouldn’t appreciate a platinum blonde, the look is still possible: keep your darker shade and add a bright red pop to your feminine bob.
