All that Glitters

There are so many new trends popping up for upcoming spring 2012, along with some that have survived through the (not quite so harsh) winter and fall. The natural look is still going strong and sometimes I feel that the smoky eye look will never fade! Along with the oldies and goodies, some newer trends are popping up, one that caught my eye was the metallic eyeshadows! Gold in particular, but bronze, silver, and even metallic shades of navy can be used.

How to pull it off, you ask? Well, for starters it’s always a good first step to apply a primer to the eye area in particular, so as the day goes on your shimmering shadow doesn’t disappear or cake! You can find some awesome mineral primers in one of the best  salons in Pittsburgh, Verve 360! Next up would be applying your foundation equally and smoothly. Now it’s time to move on to the main attraction…the eyes!

There are a lot of colors to choose from, though the trend of 2012 seems to be gold. Pick the metallic color of your choice, for paler skin tones (like mine) I normally stick to gold because it stands out! This look is all about the eyes, so no need to add bright blush or lipstick! That would just detract from your stand-out eyes! (And we don’t want that!) For a basic look apply the eyeshadow of your choice to the top lid as heavily as you desire and then you’re ready to strut your new look around the city!

Mascara and eyeliner is optional, it just depends on your own preference! Try it different ways and find your favorite! Gold on the top lid only? Gold or silver smoky eye? Bronze eyeliner? So many different looks to own!
