Beach Bum Beauty

With spring break coming your way and spring (hopefully) right around the corner, it’s time to get beach ready! The staple of spring break is lazing around on the sand or walking (with flip flops in hand) along the water line. Even though you might have gotten your hands on a wallop of new makeup during the winter months, the beach isn’t the place to flaunt it all. It’s never fun when you have to ask your friends every 5 minutes: “Is my makeup running guys?” “I swear I can feel it smearing!” “Do I look OK?” Well, here I come to save the day!

Waterproof, waterproof, waterproof! I know you just got your hands on a wonderful shade of baby blue eyeshadow, but deep inside we all know that’s not going to stay anywhere once you’ve splashed around in the ocean/pool/respective body of water. So let’s get started with the very basics so you are beach-ready! Start out with a tinted moisturizer, SPF 20 or more, to help repair your dry, heating-system damaged, winter skin. (I know that I need some moisturizer right now) Use this in place of your normal foundation since moisturizer will do more good at the beach. If you have any problematic areas you can use concealer, just make sure it’s waterproof!!

Eyes, cheeks, and lips! You don’t have to apply bronzer or blush, it’s really up to personal preference. (I’m the girl that normally avoids blush altogether) But if you do decide it will enhance your look be sure not to over apply! Just one thin layer will do the trick as long as your bronzer is heat resistant and melt proof! (Ah!) Gel blushes stick better to the skin, but can be trickier to apply thinly and require more time to properly blend. For your beautiful eyes, don’t smack on layer after layer of liner and shadow. Just stick to good old waterproof mascara to get the job done in style. A few coats will bring attention to your eyes without running the risk of major smearing! For your lips, while you might jump straight to your favorite shade of pink lipstick, you may want to think twice! Lipstick is long lasting but it can dry out your lips too, which is the last thing you want at the beach! Instead go for lip gloss to give your lips a more natural shine.

Don’t forget your sunscreen! Even if you have SPF in your moisturizer, that really isn’t enough for full protection. I don’t want to lecture you about the sun’s UV rays, because I’m sure you’ve all heard more than enough about that. If you want to complete your look, drop into the nufree products Pittsburgh salon, Verve 360, to remove that stubborn body hair! It’s easy, less stressful, and the best part is that it’s not as painful as waxing! So roll up that towel, put on your new bikini, and jump in the car to make this the most stylish spring break ever!  Oh and, bring me with you!!
