Yes it is, but obviously I’m not going to be lecturing you on THAT kind of contouring! I’m instead going to tell you about contouring with makeup and the wonders it can do to bring out the beauty of your features! What’s the point? Used by many models to bring out the definition of their features it can make certain features look thinner. Well, if the models doing it doesn’t convince you…I don’t know what will!

Basics. The most prominent feature that girls are concerned with contouring would be the cheekbones. Being that I have high cheekbones, when I contour them they look even more prominent and stand out. It also gives your face a slimmer more angular look. To contour you want choose a tone slightly darker than your own and using a wide brush apply with strokes going from your ear to the center of your face, right under the cheekbones. Make a fish face while doing this for optimal coverage! Don’t apply too heavily or you might end up looking skull-like, unless that’s the look you’re going for!

Blush. To finish your cheeks off, apply blush lightly directly on the cheekbone. Use strokes going back to your ears and it’s helpful to apply blush while smiling to get the right look. If you don’t like the look of blush you can always use a highlighter instead to make the contrast. Apply your blush in circular motions with your brush.

Finish off by going about your daily makeup routine. This look can work by itself in a natural context or you can just do what you normally do, say liner and mascara? (That’s what I always do!) Contouring works as a nice compliment to your average every-day look, slimming the face and giving your look the final push it might have been missing before!
