Sweat Pants, Hair Tied, Chillin’ With No Makeup On
“[...] That’s when you’re the prettiest; I hope that you don’t take this wrong”. Turns out, ladies, Drake was onto something, here. Perhaps, in fact, less really is more when it comes to makeup.
Now, when I heard that the “natural look” for makeup was in style for the Fall, my first reaction was ‘thank goodness, I’ve been sportin’ the look since middle school.’ Why? Well, quite frankly, because I am lazy. However, my enthusiasm for the natural look has stronger roots than my lack of general motivation in the mornings. Beautiful people, it seems, are sometimes overshadowed by their own makeup habits. Isn’t it better to hear,” Wow, you look beautiful today” rather than “Wow, your makeup looks beautiful today”. Hopefully there is more to us then some powdered blush and waxy lip gloss.
As much as I would love to preach a completely bare face, the idea is not to have people assuming you came from the gym and perhaps even skipped the shower. The goal is to achieve a happy medium in most regards: dewy skin, without looking oily; long eyelashes, without looking clumpy and weighed down; and defined features without looking…well, drawn on with a pencil.
Here it is:
1. Apply natural shade of foundation. Doing this will actually shield your skin from pore-clogging dirt that your skin will inevitably come in contact with throughout the day.
2. Sweep a light dusting of neutral eye shadow over your lids. Feel free to get a little crazy and use two shades in order to contour your lid and provide a look of depth to your eyes; remember, though, natural natural natural! Come on, you didn’t wake up with those sparkles….
3. Dab some balm on your lips. Stick to lip balms to avoid the natural, made-up look of glosses.
And that, my friends, is all. This look can go virtually anywhere; in the super-maket, at the gym, at work, burrowed in the crevice of your arm as your sleep through your 8 a.m. class (alright, a little bit of personal experience, here). This kind of look won’t smudge or smear throughout the day because it lacks the harsh colors of your night-on-the-town-look.

Sorry, Maybelline, “maybe she’s born with it, maybe it’s….nah I really think she’s just born with it”.
