Reflex and Relax

Our feet carry us to many places. From the second we get up in the morning, our feet take us from our bed, to work, back to our homes, and everywhere in between. Our feet work so hard,  yet when it comes to care, they are left out in the cold. However, it is time to say “thank you” to your feet, and treat them, as well as the rest of your body, to Reflexology.

Reflexology is a type of alternative medicine and massage. It is practiced by massaging particular pressure points on the feet and hands, using a special technique so that the use of oil and lotion is not required. These pressure points are put into zones which represent the different parts of the body. When pressure is applied to a zone, a physical change can occur in the body part that the zone represents.

Besides having pampered feet and relaxation, there are a number of other benefits from Reflexology. For starters, Reflexology can reduce pain for people of all ages and increase blood flow. Another benefit is that it can help people cope with depression and anxiety. Reflexology can also ease pregnancy pain so that women do not need as much pain medication while in labor and it can even help to shorten labor time.

If you would like to try Reflexology, visit Verve, the downtown Pittsburgh salon, and sign up for a 25 or 50 minute session.
