Happy New Year! I can’t believe yesterday started 2012. I am sure many of you have already come up with your New Year’s Resolutions. You know those goals you really want to work to achieve, but start to give up on after a few weeks. A lot of people set great goals that you should want to keep to help live a better, happier life so here is my encouragement DO NOT GIVE UP! Okay, now that you are motivated we can move on. Did you know that 45-50% of people make their resolutions about living a healthier life? I am going to share with you some of these resolutions because sticking to one, a few or all of them will help you maintain a healthier lifestyle.

Resolution 1: Pack your breakfast and lunch. Picking up those quick meals on your way to work or during your lunch break is not only a waste of money, it’s a waste of calories. Meals you make up at home tend to be a lot healthier, so get those lunch boxes out! Besides, with all that money you save everyday you won’t feel as bad if you splurge every once in a while on a nice meal out.

Resolution 2: Stop eating while watching TV. Do you know how much extra food you consume while you mindlessly eat because you are distracted by the latest TV drama? You are not paying attention to what you are eating so it takes your body longer to tell you it’s full.

Resolution 3: Fruits and Veggies. We all know you should be eating them, but most of us aren’t getting enough of them. Fruits and veggies help provide a lot of nutrients we don’t get elsewhere, plus they help you stay full longer. Also the natural sugars they have can help squash that sugar tooth.

Resolution 4: Working out more often. Nothing accelerates weight loss more quickly than actually doing the work. So it’s time to rearrange those schedules and make working out fit in there a few times a week. Pilates is a great workout that gets every part of your body involved. The Verve 360 salon, Pittsburgh PA offers many classes throughout the week to help get that body back in shape!

There are so many other fitness related resolutions you can make this year, the key is just to stick with them so you can see real results. So pick your resolution (or 2 or 3 or 4) and get to it! No one has ever been worse off from living a healthier life. If you need the extra motivation set up rewards for yourself a long the way!
