Seaweed the Superfood!
Every once in awhile a new “trendy” health food becomes all the rage with dieters, celebrities, and anyone that loves a good trend. Usually these foods really do provide some health benefits, so I say might as well go for it. Plus these healthy, super foods usually are some what out of the ordinary and can provide a great way to spice up your cooking.
Awhile back everyone was all about the coconut water, major celebrities were signing endorsement deals to promote different coconut water brands. The main benefits of drinking it were that it was rich in electrolyte potassium. This is great for regaining energy after a workout, like that intense pilates class at Verve 360 hair salons in pittsburgh!
It’s time for coconut water to move over though, as seaweed snacks are taking over as the next healthy thing. Some of the health benefits associated with eating seafood include better heart health because it is shown to reduce the risk of blood clots and reduce hardening of the arteries. More research is being done to see just how much of an impact it has. Another health benefit is weight loss (and who doesn’t love that!). Seaweed is rich in iodine, and low levels of iodine have been associated with weight gain, fatigue and depression. So start munching a way on that seaweed people!
My favorite thing about seaweed snacks is the variety of ways you can actually them. From dried out seaweed snacks, to side seaweed salads, to even making up a seaweed pizza, the possibilities are a lot greater than some other super foods. I am the kind of person that loves (or at least tries to) a healthy food, but eating it the same boring way over and over kills that love quickly. I guess this means its time to start experimenting with more seaweed recipes!
