Class Change

We have received multiple requests for an afternoon Yoga class at Verve.

Therefore, beginning October 1st we will be removing our 4:30PM Pilates class on Monday (Monday Only) and adding a Yoga Class taught by Jesse Bueno. The new class will run from 4:00PM to 5:15PM and can be found on the online scheduler.
Due to popular demand, we will also be transitioning our 6:30AM Friday class back to Pilates. We continually strive to meet the needs of our members, and hope that these changes will be helpful.

Please refer to the online scheduler to view these changes, or feel free to call us at

Clare Westwood, Peak Pilates

Verve Pilates instructor, Clare Westwood, recently completed the highest level of certifications within the Peak Pilate System (PPS) series. This comprehensive training program is a multi-level certification program that provides integrated and systematic instruction on the mat, reformer and cadillac. Peak Pilates includes the Anatomy of Movement as part of their program to provide an excellent foundation of knowledge of the body and how it moves. Clare’s instruction included a proprietary mentoring program with a Peak Master Trainer as well as hundreds of hours of required personal practice and teaching experience.

Joseph Pilates felt that optimal health was achieved through whole body fitness and flexibility. It is the one exercise system that can be done by anybody, at any age, of any fitness level.
Verve is proud to offer our clients the highest level of excellence in the Pilates program as we do in all of our wellness services. We invite you to come in and meet Clare in person for a free introduction to Pilates. Clare wants to share her passion for Pilates with you!

Balance your body with Pilates & Yoga
Verve Pilates and Yoga in October are the best way to fight the “Halloween Candy” bulge!! Here’s some good news about Pilates and Yoga. They are like the fountain of youth in some ways, the glue between technique and performance! Both Yoga and Pilates can keep the body balanced, and renew the awareness of what correct physical alignment is. Daily living activities often require that the body work in extremes, forcing us into positions and movement that are “unhealthy” alignments. Pilates and Yoga help protect the body and give some security when it’s required to go outside of its natural boundaries. With that in mind, Pilates and Yoga can help develop the correct muscle strength, joint rotation and flexibility, as well as a well-attuned core.

New or beginner Pilates practitioners often find that unusually tight muscles make certain Pilates exercises difficult. The series of Yoga poses called asanas can increase flexibility by safely stretching your muscles, making Pilates easier to learn. This releases the lactic acid which builds up with muscle use, causing stiffness, tension, pain and fatigue. In addition, Yoga increases the range of motion in joints and may also increase lubrication in the joints. The outcome is a sense of ease and fluidity throughout your body.

Yoga Basics is a 4-session workshop that get Yoga novices to the next level of Hatha Yoga. Participants can expect to learn:

  • General knowledge on various popular styles of yoga
  • Basic pose breakdown
  • Benefits of Yoga
  • Props that assist with poses
  • How to choose and care for a suitable yoga mat
  • How to start a home yoga practice

Class participants need to dress in comfortable form fitting, but not too tight clothing. Layered clothing will help address the climate of the studio. Yoga mats are available for the workshop, but students are encouraged to bring their own.
