Stress Management: The Key to Staying Calm!
Stress is something that is a part of my life on a day to day basis. I am a college student, who works, is on three executive boards of clubs, mentors and attempts to keep a high GPA. Sometimes when I think about all of the things that I must accomplish in a single week, I feel extremely overwhelmed and frequently suffer from panic attacks. But one thing I have learned to control this is to manage my stress I must learn to control my thoughts, feelings, and the way I deal with all of my problems. In learning to do this, I am able to take control of the situation and turn all of the negative feelings into positive ones! As easy as this sounds, it was not always easy for me to learn how to manage stress.
Here are some tips I use to manage my stress:
- Make a to do list for everyday of the week! Include both simple and hard tasks for everyday, so it will be easy to finish your list!
- Cross things off your list whenever you finish a task, there is nothing more rewarding than finishing a to do list!
- Speaking of rewards, reward yourself! When your enjoying something, like chocolate, you are able to concentrate on that and not your stress!
- Take a short break and allow yourself to do something fun, get a drink of water, or walk around!
The biggest help to me has been learning how to calm myself and control my breathing when I am feeling stressed. I have learned this through taking plenty of Yoga, and Pilates classes. Downtown salon pittsburgh, Verve 360, offers both Yoga and Pilates classes located in downtown Pittsburgh. Visit the Verve’s website to find the class schedule and more information on all of the classes!
