Private Training.  During private training sessions, you will receive one-on-one attention from a certified, experienced instructor who will tailor each session to meet your training needs or fitness goals. As skill level and proficiency increase in Pilates or yoga, specialized programs serve to consistently challenge you and further your skill level. Professional athletes, individuals in need of injury rehabilitation or those looking to live a better quality of life can all benefit from this type of specialized training. Personal training is offered to Members and Non-Members in three ways. Private sessions have 1 client per session, Duet sessions are great for pairs or couples.  Reformers, the Cadillac  and other small pieces of equipment are used in conjunction with mat based instruction to customize an approach that is unique to each student. How Do I Begin Taking Classes? Most students at Verve enroll in our unlimited class plan.  For as little as $89 per month, you may attend every class that Verve offers.  If class coupons are a better fit for you, you may purchase them in packs of 5 or 10 and come to class at your convenience.

What is Pilates? An innovative system of mind-body exercise evolved from the principles of Joseph Pilates. These exercises can be performed on the floor (or mat) or on specially designed equipment such as the Reformer, the Cadillac, the tower or the Wunda chair.

Who was Joseph H. Pilates? Born in Germany in 1880, Joseph Pilates was a child who suffered from many illnesses. He dedicated his life to becoming physically fit and became proficient in many sports. During World War 1 he was interned as a German national in a war camp. He helped to rehabilitate English soldiers by developing exercises with springs and straps attached to their beds. When Pilates came to the United States in 1926, he established a studio in New York City to teach his method of Controlology, as he called it.

Today, his exercises are even more popular than ever before. Dancers, physical therapists, sports teams, celebrities and fitness enthusiasts everywhere are enjoying the benefits of Pilates.
