Dancing Calories Away!

I’m terrible at sticking to a workout plan. I get bored with the usual run on a treadmill or lifting couple weights. Instead I need something to keep me going that’s actually enjoyable. Recently my mother took a Zumba class with her friends and absolutely loved it. When she got home she raved about how great the workout made her feel and suggested that I started to do Zumba too.

I was a little weary about beginning a workout routine with my mother and her friends, but I decided I might as well give it a go. At the first class I went to I fell in love with it. It was, by far, the most fun I’ve ever had working out.

Zumba is a latin-inspired work out that gets your hips shaking and your feet moving the whole time. Zumba’s dance moves range from modern day hip-hop to the mambo to salsa! Typically these dance inspired classes run about an hour long, but it feels like the time goes by in a flash.

The class is like a giant dance party as the instructor screams off the next dance move for you and all the other partakers to do! By the end of the hour long dance session your heart is racing, but you can’t help but want more!  Zumba burns between 500 and 1,000 calories and improves posture, flexibility, and builds strength!

Zumba classes are great for all ages, and are a wonderful way to socialize with your friends. It’s like you’re going to the club—minus the calories from alcohol! To get your first taste of a Zumba class visit the Verve 360 Pilates Pittsburgh on Thursday’s at 8:30! You won’t regret it!
