Walking to a Longer Life

This Monday marks the start of Everybody Walk Week. Local organizations are working together with the medical community to encourage everyone to walk more. There are so many benefits to going for a quick walk, plus you can walk pretty much anywhere for free. Just throw on some sneakers and you are ready to go.

If you take 15 minutes out of your day, 3 days a week you can expand        your life expectancy by 3 years. If you want to improve your health even  more walking 30 mins 5 days a week can help reduce the chance of  diabetes in half. So grab your dog and take them for a walk, you know  you need to anyway so why not improve your life while you are at it.

Walking is not just restricted to the outdoors. Walking around the mall,  window shopping with friends counts too. With fall rushing in last week  staying indoors may seem like a better option right now.

If you are looking for other places to walk around why not explore downtown Pittsburgh. Reward yourself for your healthy living and stop into one of the great Pittsburgh Salons, Verve 360. Treat yourself to a manicure and pedicure as a reward or continue your new healthy lifestyle and join in on a pilates or yoga class.
