Yoga… not just for women!
Yoga has never come across as a manly activity. Maybe it’s because yoga does not build bulky muscles, but helps to tone lean muscle. Well hate to break it you gentlemen, not all the ladies want the bulky muscle. Some of us actually prefer a leaner, yet still toned man, and yoga could be the way for you to become that guy! Even the LA Lakers incorporate yoga into their practice routine!
Look at Adam Levine, who rocked the stage at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show a few weeks ago. He is no where near “buff” but he still looks pretty damn good if you ask me, and he says a lot of it is due to yoga. Still not convinced guys? All that yoga has helped him land a Victoria’s Secret Angel, Anne Vyalitsyna! He even got to serenade her during the fashion show, while she pranced around in lingerie. Recently Adam shared some of the yoga tips he swears by, and I am going to share some of them with all of you.
First, the main part of his routine is Ashtanga. Ashtanga is a more fast-paced routine that concentrates on a variety of poses linked together through continuous movement. It is a little intense for beginners, but can always be learned through yoga classes at salons Pittsburgh, Verve 360, as well as any other yoga movements!
Vinyasa is another form of yoga used by Levine. It is more slow-paced than Ashtanga, and focuses on synchronized breathing with the poses and movements. Jivamukti brings music into yoga. It combines the music with a more Hindu spirituality. Next is Iyengar, a much slower paced type of yoga that concentrates on holding moves for longer periods of time. Lastly is Anusara. Anusara blends the movement holding of Iyengar with the Hindu spirituality of Jivamukti.
Now all of this may seem like I am from another world right now, but you do not need to know every type of yoga by name, and you do not need to practice every kind. Find what fits your style, whether it be one or a combination. Just give everything a try because the benefits of yoga are enormous. So guys go out there and grab your yoga mats and join a class because even rockstars have jumped on the yoga band wagon! You can get toned and maybe even meet a new lady while your at it!
